KFC Seeking Stories About The Colonel

Kentucky Fried Chicken is trying to preserve the memory of its fabled founder, Colonel Sanders, by collecting ordinary stories about his extraordinary life. reported on how the world’s largest chicken restaurant chain is celebrating the man who changed chicken forever.

"A lot of people still remember the colonel and knew there was a colonel. That it wasn't just a made-up logo or marketing thing," said Jim Davis of Berea, who was a friend and fellow churchgoer.

As part of its colonel campaign, KFC launched to allow fans and friends to send in stories, photos, videos and anything that depicts the colonel’s legendary life. People are already sharing stories about how the colonel was an enthusiastic matchmaker, as well as a persistent pitchman and a great humanitarian.

The campaign comes at a time when KFC is struggling domestically despite thriving internationally. The company believes that consumers want a brand that recalls a simpler and happier time, which is what these classic stories will hopefully evoke.
