Jamba Juice Finds A Winning Franchise Partner In Venus Williams

Tennis star Venus Williams has joined Jamba Juice as a franchise partner to help the chain enter the Washington, D.C. market, according to The collaboration with Williams calls for five stores in the D.C.-Maryland market over the next two years, with the first store scheduled to open in the summer.

“We thought that Venus would be the ideal partner; she epitomizes, from our vantage point, a person that leads a healthy, active lifestyle,” said James White, president and CEO of Jamba Juice. “She’s one of the most recognized athletes on the planet, so we couldn’t think of a better partner to enter the D.C. marketplace with.”

While Jamba Juice plans to promote health and wellness activities in Williams’ D.C. stores, the move into the D.C. marketplace is being used as a springboard for greater East Coast growth. The franchise has plans to expand into Connecticut and Boston.

For Williams, the franchise partnership with Jamba Juice is a natural fit since the tennis star has been a long-time fan of the brand and its healthy mission, and happened to be in the market for entrepreneurial opportunities. Jamba Juice is a good match for athlete partnerships because of its healthy, active brand image.

While there are no plans for Williams to serve as a spokeswoman for Jamba Juice, the franchise anticipates that their relationship with the tennis star will only grow stronger in the coming years.
