In an effort to stimulate the nation’s economic growth during these challenging times, Facebook is partnering with the International Franchise Association (IFA.) The Street.com reported on how this collaboration is intended to help franchisors expand their franchises on a larger scale and create stronger connections with customers.
"As a world leader in connecting people in a trusted environment online, Facebook's involvement with the IFA will help franchise businesses drive sales and create jobs," said IFA president and CEO Steve Caldeira.
Some of the ways that Facebook plans to help franchisors and franchisees is by supplying numerous online advertising products that enable smaller businesses to reach larger groups of consumers. These products include location-based “check-in” capabilities and ad targeting tools. The social network is also eager to listen and learn from the franchise industry regarding their needs, which would allow them to provide the precise social media tools to achieve their unique goals.
Facebook is also adding a “social jobs partnership” page featuring job search resources, training programs and educational opportunities. The social network plans to drive traffic to the page through online public service announcements targeted to users in high-unemployment rate areas.
Finally, Facebook will increase awareness and interest in the alliance through a promotion that will award $10 million in free advertising to 200,000 local businesses through $50 worth of ad credits per business. The promotion will be announced next year through a targeted email.
The IFA is hopeful that the enormous popularity and reach of the social network will give the franchise industry a much-needed boost by leveraging the power of the social marketing spectrum.
